Visiting With Head Office!!

I had the pleasure to come to Penticton, B.C. for a meeting with Al and Jeni Nicols, the couple I bought the Sand Magic Creations franchise from. What a pleasure it has been to spend some time with them and get to know them just a little bit better. They live in Paradise, so it's no wonder they are such a pleasure to work with and learn from. I am excited about the new cards and new colours, but also some of the new ideas I got from Jeni and Al. I think I am extremely lucky to have purchased my franchise, swiftly for Calgary, I am the only one there doing Sand Magic Creations at this time. The franchise is still available for Edmonton, Red Deer, Regina, Winnipeg.....so if anyone out there is thinking of wanting to get into a business that has not saturated the market yet, this is a lifetime opportunity! I wish there were more of me and I'd go into these places myself. The business is a great opportunity and it provides you with flexibility too, as you can see, I've been on Vacation for 2 whole weeks so far!!
Oh, and I also had the pleasure of meeting with Russ and Lonnie, the father and daughter tea that own SMC in Kelowna. They have owned it for over a year now and can be found by the beach or you can contact SMC at sandmagiccreations@hotmail.com for more details. They will have a blogset up soon so you can read about what they have been up to.
Anyhow I will have a lot more time to devote to keeping up this blog and spending time updating my information for those of you who come and check it out.

Spring Is In The Air

Well, Spring came in like a Lion, again, but we are in Calgary and the weather changes every 5 minutes. We celebrated my sons' 5th birthday this Saturday, and as nice at it was in the Morning, by mid afternoon, the wind was blowing and the temperature had dropped quite a few degrees, enough to get out of my capri's and back into my winter woollies! Thank goodness for SMC, we stayed inside for the party and the kids kept quietly busy working on their sand cards, SMC saved all of us from wanting to be outside! I am steadily booking up for Spring and hopefully this summer, I might get a few weekends off, but from the looks of it, SMC is catching on and the kids are loving it and spreading the word. YAY!

IF there was 2 of me! AKA "this blog doesn't write itself?"

Alright, first off, I think I'm in deep! I have tons of things on the go, and all are busy. Being a mother is most important, then a business owner of not 1 or 2, but three thriving home based businesses, it gets a bit crazy. I've been up since 4:00 am updating and emailing, because sometimes, if it doesn't get done then, it just never gets done! That's he beauty of this life, haha!
Second, I'd like to state how grateful I am to have Sand Magic Creations! It's not only bringing me joy, but man the kids are happy with their creations at the end of a workshop or party. It is hard work, but it doesn't seem like it because of the fun we have. I did a workshop with 14 kids at a daycare, it was fascinating to watch the children and their teachers too, it was a great experience. I can't wait until next year when I can work more often with daycares, while the kids are at school.
Anyhow, things are looking good and I am booking into the spring and summer. My calendar is filling up and I'm excited for things to come!

Just a Little Blurb

I worked at a birthday party this Saturday, I had 20 kids participate in SMC and it was a huge hit. We did SMC after they ate lunch and it kept them busy and entertained and were even helping each other until it was time for cake and presents. It was a treat to have such a nice family host it, and the birthday girl seemed quite satisfied with how happy her friends were with their masterpieces. To keep everyone happy, we decided to take them by small groups (3) to explain the craft and then I gave them their card and got them started. They had gotten a ticket from me, which they had to hand over when it was their turn. That gave us a chance to keep track of how many cards were used, they were very good at SMC and really enjoyed having something to take home at the end of the party. It's exciting to have such a large amount of children and have it all go smoothly. Yay for SMC!!!

Wowee, Good things are coming my way!

So I open my email Monday morning, not giving at a thought about what I'd find. I see a email from a big company in Downtown Calgary and immediately got for that one. I take a quick read, and to sum it up ... they have asked about Sand Magic Creations and weather I will come work a Pancake breakfast for them during Stampede in the summer. Now if anyone has been to Calgary Stampede, or has heard of it, they know how HUGE it is and what this means! Anyhow, before I get all carried away about this, Stampede is months away, and I've not been hired for this just yet.....however, I'm thinking this is a sign of GREAT things to come!

So3 weeks into the year and I'm booking up fast. I'm so wonderfully amazed at all the great support I've gotten for my new business, I'm loving all the happy kids and happy parents too.
So far, I've booked for at least one day a month and I'm looking at it as a blessing that I am busy, specially with the hard economic times ahead. I'm hoping that even with the economy, I can still be able to bring a smile to a child's face and make the most of what a celebration should be.

Winston Heights Mountview Santa Claus Breakfast

Wow, That was a fun event. I got there a bit late because of the winter and well everything that comes with a really cold day, but it was a really fun event for me and the kids.
I had approximately 30 children come through SMC, it was a huge hit and well I was swamped basically from the minute I finished my set up until lunch. I'm not sure how busy everyone else was, but it was non stop for me. I look for ward to being there again next year!
I've begun booking parties for January, February and March, and I can see I'll be busy right through the summer.
I hope that everyone who tries SMC loves it just as much, hopefully there will be more SMC franchises opening in either Edmonton and Even Red Deer sometime soon.

Welcome to my new Blog

Are you looking for new interactive entertainment for children at your next event? Are you wanting some unique and creative activity to keep your little guest entertained at your next party? If finding the right help is getting you down, I am very pleased and excited to present to you, Sand Magic Creations. My company is new to Calgary and provides a fun, interactive and relatively quiet party activity for children of all ages.

We are a mobile Sand Art Studio that comes to you and will entertain your little guest for hours. My name is Viviana, and this is my company (a home based business). I purchased the franchise after experiencing Sand Magic Creations in Penticton, B.C. I loved that it is family owned and it was a fun and creative activity for kids, with whom I already work with on a daily basis.

A party will include a large array of uniquely designed sticker cards for the children to chose from. They come in two sizes with beautiful images for both boys and girls (I bring a display of sample cards), 18 colours of sand to work with, sand tables, bowls, and all the equipment required to create sand art masterpieces. I provide the children with instruction on how to use the sand tables, the cards and plastic protective cover for their finished work of art. I set up and knock down and help you with the children throughout the party. The cost depends on the size of party or event you want to have. We start at $150 for a party, from 2 to 2.5hours (includes 15 minutes set up and 15 minutes knock down of equipment) and as many as 15 cards (each child can chose one). A larger company event starts at $350, for 3 to 3.5 hours (includes set up and knock down of equipment) and up to 35 cards. With a charge of $7 for each extra card. This however, is all flexible depending on your needs and your type of party.

How To Do Sand Magic Creations

Step 1	Choose an image that you would like to make.
Step 2	Using the stick provided start by peeling off the outline of your image.
Step 3	Use a dark colored sand and sprinkle over the exposed outline.
Step 4	Continue to peel off all the yellow paper, sprinkling sand in colors of your choice. Repeat the process until all the yellow paper is removed and the image is covered in colored sand.
